Green bean stew with smoked pork

Description

1. Simmer the smoked pork in the stock for about 30 minutes, then remove and dice it.

2. Trim the green beans and cut them into 3 cm pieces; peel and dice the potatoes.

3. In a pot sweat the finely chopped onion in the butter and add the beans and potatoes.

4. Pour in the meat's cooking liquid, stir in the savory and cook for about 25 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

5. Return the diced meat, season with salt and pepper and cook together for another 5 minutes.

6. Sprinkle with parsley and serve.

Tip: Savory ("Bohnenkraut") is the classic German partner for green beans - it adds a pleasant peppery note and makes them easier to digest.

  • 1 tk. black pepper
