This apple and cinnamon tea is a fragrant, fruity warm drink that warms you through in moments on a cold afternoon. You cannot get it wrong, even as a beginner.
1. Peel the 2 apples and cut them into thin wedges.
2. Bring the 1 litre of water to the boil, add the apple and the 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
3. Simmer gently for 10 minutes so the apple flavour infuses into the water.
4. Take it off the heat, add the 2 teaspoons black tea and let it steep for 3-4 minutes – no longer, or it turns bitter.
5. Strain and sweeten with the 2 tablespoons honey. Stir the honey only into the already lukewarm tea, so it keeps its beneficial properties.
6. Serve hot.
Tip: The spiced apple-water base is lovely on its own; if you have it, a slice of orange or a few cloves turn it into a real winter warmer.
