The club sandwich is the three-tier American classic: crisp, juicy and filling all at once.
1. Toast the bread slices golden brown.
2. Fry the bacon slices crisp, then drain them on kitchen paper.
3. Slice the turkey breast thinly (or use cooked, sliced turkey), salt and pepper it.
4. Slice the tomato into rounds, wash the lettuce.
5. Spread the first bread slice with mayonnaise, layer the lettuce, the turkey and the tomato onto it, then put the second slice on top.
6. On this comes the bacon, then finally the third bread slice; quarter the sandwich diagonally, and serve it with chips.
Tip: Pin the layers together with a toothpick, so the tall sandwich does not slide apart.
