Ranch dressing is America's most popular creamy, herby sauce, which comes together in minutes.
1. Mix the mayonnaise and the sour cream smooth in a bowl.
2. Crush the garlic to a paste with a grater or a garlic press – chopped it would stay lumpy.
3. Chop the chives and the fresh dill very finely.
4. Mix everything together, and season it with lemon juice, a pinch of salt and pepper.
5. Thin it with the milk to the desired thickness – thicker for a dip, thinner for a salad dressing.
6. Put it in the fridge for at least 1 hour, so the flavours come together.
Tip: It is excellent for salads, beside roast meats and with raw vegetables alike; with freshly chopped herbs it is much better than with dried.
